Chicken sliders is an ideal choice for party food. Its quick to put together in advance and is always a crowd-pleaser. What more, chicken sliders are super versatile and can be customized to suit different palates. Today I’m sharing a Pakistani variation of this recipe called ‘Tandoori Chicken Sliders’, which is perfect for serving in Iftar in the month of Ramadan.
You can make these sliders with or without vegetables and instead of chutneys, you can use ketchup & mayo. In a nutshell, the possibilities are endless!
Recipe at a Glance
Chicken– Boneless, thigh or breast
Yogurt – full fat
Ginger garlic – paste or chopped
Seasonings- Garam masala, chili powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, salt & pepper, turmeric, fenugreek
Olive oil – or any other
Slider buns
Chutneys– Green & Tamarind, homemade or store-bought
Cheese slices– Mozzarella/ Kashkwal
Vegetables- Capsicum, tomato, onion, chopped
Butter- Melted, mixed with garlic powder & crushed red chili
Step by Step Process
- Marinate chicken with all the ingredients for 2-4 hours and bake in a preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, stirring halfway through.
- Cut slider buns in half, horizontally.
- Spread some green chutney and then cheese slices.
- Place the chicken on top, spread some tamarind chutney and chopped vegetables.
- Cover the sliders with the other half, press firmly and brush with butter.
- Bake for 10 minutes and brush with some more butter.
FAQs
Serving Suggestions
This can be served with additional tamarind chutney or green coriander chutney. Or for different flavor you can use mayo and ketchup.
These also make an excellent option for kids’ lunchboxes.
Substitutions & Variations
Sliders are generally very versatile in terms of filling. You can use any other kind of filling or marinade or leftover for making chicken sliders.
Storage and Make Ahead
You can make chicken filling ahead of time and store it in the fridge or freezer in an airtight container.
Tandoori Chicken Sliders
Ingredients
- 450 Chicken (thighs or breast), boneless
- ¼ cup Yogurt
- 1 tablespoon Ginger Garlic paste
- ½ teaspoon Garam Masala (mixed spices)
- ½ teaspoon Chili Powder
- 1 teaspoon Cumin Powder or roasted, crushed
- 1 teaspoon Coriander Powder or roasted, crushed
- ¾ teaspoon Salt
- 1 teaspoon Black Pepper, crushed
- ¼ teaspoon Turmeric
- ½ teaspoon Fenugreek, dried
- 1 tablespoon Olive Oil
For Assembling
- 2 - 4 tablespoons Tamarind Chutney
- 2 - 4 tablespoons Green Chutney
- As required Mozzarella/ Kashkwal Cheese slices
- As required Capsicum, tomato, onion- chopped
- 12 Slider Buns
- 4 tablespoons Melted butter, with garlic powder and crushed red chili
Instructions
For the Chicken
- Marinate chicken with all the ingredients for 2-4 hours or overnight in the refrigerator.
- Place the chicken on a foil lined oven proof dish or tray.
- Bake in a preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, stirring halfway through.
Assembling
- Take slider buns and cut in half horizontally.
- Spread some green chutney and then place cheese slices.
- Place the chicken on top and then spread some tamarind chutney.
- Sprinkle the chopped vegetables.
- Place the other half of the sliders.
- Press firmly.
- Brush with melted butter (with some garlic powder and crushed red chili)
- Bake for 10 minutes in a preheated oven at 375 F for 10 minutes until the cheese has melted.
- Brush with some more melted butter and cover.
