Ingredients
- 185 grams butter, chopped
- 1 cup pitted dates, finely chopped
- ½ cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1 cup milk
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- 2 eggs
- 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- pinch of salt
Instructions
- Grease a deep 8 inches round cake pan or ring pan.
- Place butter, dates, sugar and milk in a medium-sized saucepan.
- Bring to boil and remove from heat.
- Stir in baking soda and stand 10 minutes.
- Stir in eggs and flour.
- Spoon mixture into prepared pan.
- Bake at 350 F for 40-50 minutes.
- Stand 10 minutes before turning onto wire rack to cool.
- Dust with icing sugar.
