This is the best no-fuss easiest chocolate ice cream you could make at home for your kids. It is named hot chocolate because a hot chocolate like mixture is prepared and then cooled and frozen. No-churn, no ice cream machine, no special milks like evaporated or condensed and no real chocolate. Five ingredients, whisk and a boil later, it is ready to freeze.
Why you should make this recipe?
This is the recipe where my kids (who are very particular about their chocolate ice cream) cannot distinguish if its the real ice cream with custard and chocolate which I make often and can be found here.
Next time you buy ice cream from super market, check the labels, usually there is not milk or cream, its dried milk powder with vegetable oil, yes that’s correct, read again.
This recipe has no condensed/evaporated milk, real chocolate, or any other fancy ingredient.
It comes together in 10 minutes excluding the freezing time.

Substitutions and Variations
You can use any other type of milk but low fat is not recommended.
You can dip the chocolate bar into melted chocolate (thinned with some oil) to make it like a chocobar.
Serving suggestions
You can freeze this in a regular rectangular pan or container (airtight) to scoop it like an icecrea,
You can serve it with variety of things like marshmallow, nuts, brownies etc.
You will get the best results if you freeze them in molds because then it will be airtight and no freezer air can cause any crystals.
If you are using regular container, make sure to cover with a plastic wrap touching the surface and then closing the lid.
Storage and Make ahead
This is an ice cream that can be make ahead. I generally make it over weekend to let the kids enjoy as a dessert/snack during the school week.
